Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and Adam Tweedie, trading as FlashLingo, London, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). By creating an account you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the service. Questions: hello@flashlingo.app.

The service

FlashLingo is a spaced-repetition flashcard app. You answer cards by speaking, writing or listening; software grades your answer and schedules when you will see the card again. Grading is automated and will sometimes be wrong. Treat scores as feedback, not as a certified assessment of your language ability.

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old. Keep your login details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.

Your content

You own the decks and cards you create. When you publish a deck to the community library you give us, and other users, permission to display, copy and study it within the service for as long as it stays published. Unpublish it at any time to withdraw that permission for future copies; copies other users have already made stay with them.

Do not publish content that is unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, infringes someone else's rights, or is designed to abuse the grading system. We can remove content and suspend accounts that break this rule.

Free and Pro

The free plan is a complete product. Pro adds pronunciation grading, listening practice and higher AI generation limits, at the price shown at checkout. Subscriptions are billed by Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time from your profile; Pro then runs until the end of the period you have paid for. If you change your mind within 14 days of first subscribing, email us for a full refund.

Pronunciation grading costs us money per minute of audio. We may apply fair-use limits to keep the service sustainable, and will say so in the app if we do.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from Settings. This removes your data as described in the privacy policy and cancels any Pro subscription immediately, without a refund for the remaining period. We may delete accounts that have been inactive for over two years, after emailing you first.

Availability and changes

FlashLingo is a small, early product. We aim for it to be available and accurate but do not guarantee either, and we may change or withdraw features. We will give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce what Pro includes.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, and we are not liable for indirect losses such as lost data you have not exported or lost study time.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer in another country you keep any mandatory protections of your local law.
